Figma's Agent Left Beta and Started Billing

The Figma agent is no longer a beta you could ignore in the budget.

On 6 October 2026 Figma moved the design agent and Weave tools to general availability. Latency is down. You can attach library guidelines as markdown — rules, antipatterns, the house style — and the agent reads them whenever that library is on. You can watch a teammate's agent live on the canvas. You can ask it to search files, FigJam stickies, Slides. Paste nodes into the prompt. Generative plugins are GA. Custom skills can be authored in Figma; they are available on Starter. Image edits can pick a model from the on-canvas entry. Usage during beta did not burn credits. As of the 6th, it does.

Who actually gets it

Full seats on Professional, Organization, Enterprise, and some Education plans. Limited on Starter. Collab, Dev, and View seats can run it in drafts. That seat split is the rollout. The people who own the library get the agent. The people who comment on the library watch. Jay Peters at The Verge had the shortest true sentence of the day: Figma's AI agent for product design is now generally available.

Wayne Lin's same-day post is the useful one if you run a system. Uber's Ian Guisard uses skills to /create-api and /create-color across seven platforms instead of writing specs by hand. Granola's Paavan Buddhdev imports a live screen, then asks the agent to swap disconnected buttons back onto the library. The pitch is not generate a marketing page. It is stop the drift that coding agents then faithfully implement.

If your design tokens are the contract with Cursor and Claude Code, this is the week to put guidelines on the published library and to measure credit burn on a real cleanup task before you let the whole org click the sparkle. Beta was free exploration. GA is a line item.
