Privacy Policy
Effective 17 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Metarix (“Metarix,” “we,” “us”) handles information in connection with the website at metarix.io and related pages we operate (the “Site”). It is written to match how the Site works today. If a feature is not live yet, we say so rather than describe collection that does not happen.
Our Terms & Conditions govern use of the Site. If those terms and this policy conflict on a privacy point, this policy controls.
1. Who we are
Metarix is an intelligence hub that publishes analysis of AI SaaS tools, developer workflows, architecture, and related research. The Site is the public publication at metarix.io.
We have not published a separate registered-company name, postal address, or dedicated privacy inbox on the Site. Until we do, privacy requests go through our Contact page. When we add an operator name or email there, that becomes the contact for this policy.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers:
- Visiting public pages (home, articles, search, company pages).
- Theme preference stored in your browser.
- Anonymous article view counts.
- Email addresses submitted in the footer newsletter field.
- Technical logs created by our hosting and content infrastructure.
This policy does not cover:
- Websites we link to, including vendor sites, press rooms, and social networks.
- Sanity Studio at /studio, which is an editorial tool and is not a public reader product.
- Accounts or payments — those products are not live.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
If you enter an email in the footer subscribe field, we store that address, the time you submitted it, and that it came from the footer. We do not send a newsletter yet. Submitting the form is consent to be emailed when we start sending. You can ask to be removed through the Contact page.
The Site does not currently run accounts, comments, or a working contact form. If you later email us or use a contact channel we publish, we will receive whatever you include (name, email address, message, and any attachments). We use that only to respond and to keep a record of the request.
3.2 Information collected automatically
When you load the Site, our infrastructure may process:
- IP address, approximate location derived from IP, date and time, requested URL, referrer, and user agent. Cloudflare, which hosts and delivers the Site, may generate these logs as part of providing CDN, DNS, and security services.
- An article identifier (slug) when a public article page loads, so we can increment an aggregate view count. We do not attach that count to a name, email, or user account. There are no reader accounts.
- Standard server and application errors needed to keep the Site available.
3.3 Information stored on your device
The Site stores your colour theme in the browser under the key metarix-theme (light or dark). That value stays on your device. We do not read it from a server-side profile.
We do not set our own advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare or the browser may still use cookies or similar storage that are strictly necessary for security, load balancing, or to deliver the Site. We do not currently use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar advertising tags.
3.4 Information we do not collect today
- Payment card details, government IDs, or precise geolocation.
- Login credentials (there is no public login).
- Cross-site advertising identifiers issued by us.
4. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Publish, host, and secure the Site.
- Count article views in aggregate so related and popular pieces can be ranked.
- Remember your theme on the device you chose it on.
- Diagnose outages, abuse, and security incidents.
- Respond to legal requests and enforce our Terms.
- Respond to you if you contact us.
- Keep a newsletter list so we can email subscribers when that product launches.
We do not use Site traffic to build a marketing profile of you, and we do not sell personal information.
5. Legal bases
If you are in the UK, EEA, or another region that requires a legal basis, we rely on:
- Legitimate interests — to operate a public publication, keep it secure, count anonymous reads, and remember a theme preference you set.
- Consent — when you submit the footer newsletter field. We will not email that address until we start sending, and you can ask to be removed.
- Legal obligation — when we must keep or disclose information to comply with law.
- Contract — if we later offer an account or paid product and need data to provide it.
7. Retention
- Theme preference remains until you clear site data or change the control.
- Aggregate view counts remain with the article for as long as the article is stored.
- Hosting and security logs are kept for the period our providers retain them, typically a short operational window unless an incident requires longer review.
- Correspondence you send us is kept as long as needed to handle the request and any related legal hold.
- Newsletter emails are kept until you ask to be removed or we shut the list down.
8. International transfers
Metarix is a global-facing publication. Cloudflare, Sanity, and our operators may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may not provide the same legal protections as your home country. Where required, we rely on our providers’ transfer mechanisms (such as standard contractual clauses) and on the fact that you are visiting a public website delivered over the internet.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal information, to object to processing, to withdraw consent (where we relied on it), and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because we do not run reader accounts, much of what the Site stores is either on your device (theme) or is not tied to you (view totals). You can clear local theme data in your browser. For any other request, contact us through the Contact page and describe what you need. We may ask you to verify the request before we act, so we do not delete or disclose the wrong person’s information.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the CCPA/CPRA. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for inferring characteristics. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide any required “Do Not Sell or Share” control.
10. Children
The Site is written for professionals and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own advertising. If we ever introduce advertising technology that would qualify as a “sale” or “share,” we will update this policy first.
12. Security
We use HTTPS, a restrictive robots policy for Studio and API routes, and hosting-provider security features. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You use the public internet at your own residual risk.
13. Changes
We will update this policy when the Site starts collecting new categories of information (for example a working newsletter, accounts, or analytics). The effective date at the top will change. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the Site after an update means the new policy applies to information collected after that date.
14. Contact
Privacy questions and data-rights requests: metarix.io/contact.
Until a dedicated email is listed on that page, treat the Contact page as the official channel. Do not submit passwords or payment details there.
