Antigravity CLI
Antigravity CLI is Google's terminal coding agent. Its command is agy, and it runs the same agent harness as Antigravity 2.0, Google's desktop app for agent-first development, so improvements to the core agent show up in the terminal and the app at the same time. Google announced it on May 19, 2026, and it replaced Gemini CLI for free users and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers on June 18, 2026. Gemini CLI itself stays open source and supported only for Gemini Code Assist Standard and Enterprise licenses and paid API keys. Antigravity CLI is written in Go, unlike the Node.js-based Gemini CLI it replaces. It is built for developers who want an agent that can plan, edit files and run commands from the shell, and for teams already invested in Gemini models or Google Cloud. Key features carried over from Gemini CLI include Agent Skills, Hooks, Subagents and extensions, which are now called Antigravity plugins. The CLI adds asynchronous background agents for long refactors or research, and a /plan mode that researches before proposing an implementation plan. Google's docs also list a /goal command that runs a task to completion without pausing for input and a /schedule command for one-off or recurring cron-style tasks. Proposed changes go through an Artifact Review screen (Ctrl+R), where you approve each file change before it lands. Running /usage (or /quota) shows remaining model quota per model. Conversations started in the Antigravity desktop app can be resumed in the CLI with /resume. Installation uses an official script: curl -fsSL https://antigravity.google/cli/install.sh | bash on macOS and Linux, with PowerShell and CMD installers for Windows. On first launch you pick a theme and rendering mode and confirm that you trust the workspace. It can authenticate with a personal Google account (Free, Pro and Ultra plans), a Gemini API key, Gemini Enterprise (preview) or Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (preview). Pricing is freemium. Google's pricing page lists a $0 individual tier with access to a variety of agent models and basic weekly rate limits, with higher limits and a flexible AI credit pool on Google AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions. Google does not publish exact request or token quotas, so check /usage for your account. Businesses can use it through Google Cloud. Alternatives include Claude Code from Anthropic, OpenAI's Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and the open-source OpenCode, which can connect to Gemini models through an API key.
