SpaceXSI

SpaceXSI, formerly known as xAI, builds the Grok family of large language models and the developer API that serves them at api.x.ai. The company positions Grok as a general-purpose assistant with strong coding and tool-use capabilities, sold both as a consumer product on grok.com and X and as a token-billed API for applications, agents and gateways.

Developers integrate Grok through OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions endpoints and through SpaceXSI's Responses API. The same models power Grok in the consumer apps, Grok Bot, and third-party clients that route through OpenRouter or other gateways. Team accounts manage API keys, model access, billing and audit logs in the SpaceXSI Console. Regional endpoints sit alongside the global api.x.ai host so teams can keep traffic in a preferred region when residency rules require it.

Pricing is usage-based. Teams pay for input and output tokens at each model's published rate, with separate line items for features such as tool calling and multimodal inputs where those apply. Consumer access is bundled into X subscription tiers (Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra) that share a weekly usage pool across Grok surfaces. The API path is what product and platform teams use when they need keys, structured outputs, or to embed Grok inside an agent loop.

On the compliance side, SpaceXSI documents EU AI Act-related controls in its developer docs. From November 7, 2026, text generation from seven Grok API models carries an invisible statistical watermark by default. Admins can opt out per model in the Console, with the opt-out logged and framed as a legal-responsibility shift onto the customer. Response headers expose whether a given completion was watermarked, without changing the response body format.

For builders comparing model providers, SpaceXSI matters as a high-throughput Grok supplier with an OpenAI-compatible surface, team admin controls, and an explicit watermarking policy that other frontier labs have approached differently (for example with cryptographic provenance rather than statistical marks). Metarix covers Grok API product changes, pricing shifts and developer-facing policy on its tool and company hubs so teams can track what actually changed before they rewrite prompts or compliance playbooks.
